Learning in Local Greenspace
Learning in Local Greenspace was a fully funded, priority project which involved over 100 primary and secondary schools in some of the most disadvantaged areas of Scotland. Funded by NatureScot, this collaborative project supported schools to use local green spaces, such as parks and woodlands, for outdoor learning.

Why encourage Learning in Local Greenspace?
Outdoor learning improves the health and wellbeing of both pupils and teachers, and can also have a positive impact on behaviour and engagement. In turn, this can lead to better attainment.
For our part in this project, we targeted raising attainment in Health and Wellbeing, Numeracy, and Literacy. We delivered long-term staff training, led and supported lessons outdoors, and resourced lessons in schools across Scotland.
We also created a number of films, three of which can be viewed below.
Outdoor Learning Training
We delivered a number of training programmes as part of the Learning in Local Greenspace project — Maths Outdoors, Literacy Outdoors, Early Years Nurturing Nature, and Whole School Approach. We would be delighted to help your school take the next step towards learning in local green spaces. Visit our training page to browse our full range of outdoor learning training courses.
