Dr Polly Jarman has recently completed her PhD research within the Human Geography department at the University of Birmingham.
Her thesis, entitled ‘Children’s encounters with urban woodlands, digital technologies and materialities’ is based on six months of walking and arts-based inquiry with two groups of primary school aged children, Go-Pros and an urban woodland in Birmingham.
In this presentation she will share this research, focusing on the incorporation of digital technologies, including filming and video editing, in learning related to place, environments, bodies of water and materials such as deadwood, rusting metals and rocks.
It will be delivered via Zoom and will last approximately 30 minutes with time to answer questions at the end.
We are running a series of free webinars over the coming months on topics like “Building a whole school approach”, “Climate change and school grounds”, and “Developing your school grounds”. We will be posting details of these on our training page, but please sign up to our newsletter for updates.
