Embracing the power of outdoor play.

Nurturing Nature

Our current Nurturing Nature project, based in Scotland, uses outdoor free play in areas of local greenspace as an early intervention to support the wellbeing and relationships of vulnerable pre-school children; particularly in the emotional, social, cognitive and physical domains.

Training

The Nurturing nature project also develops the skills and capacity of early years practitioners and children’s service professionals to support children from families with complex needs.

It is currently delivered in areas of multiple deprivation and regularly receives fantastic feedback from participating families who experience the enjoyment, health benefits, and social breakthrough that play in nature can bring.

The programme is over 10 weeks, working with a small group of children and their families, led by LtL staff and early years staff. We use local greenspace to facilitate play, using free or ultra low-cost ideas. The impact is fantastic with some excellent feedback from nurseries who see more fathers, more families who speak English as a second language, and more hard to reach families engage.

If your early years setting would like to take part in the programme, visit our Nurturing Nature training page.
