Our new CEO at Learning through Landscapes

Welcoming Matt Robinson as our new Chief Executive Officer, as we look to the future with confidence and ambition.

Following the news at the beginning of the year that Carley Sefton plans to step down as CEO of LtL this summer, the LtL trustees are delighted to announce that, following a thoroughly competitive process, Matt Robinson, our current COO, will be taking over. The recruitment panel was highly impressed by the level of skill, experience, and understanding demonstrated by all the candidates. However, it was Matt’s deep passion for the organisation, continued commitment to the success of LtL and excellent skill set that made him the strongest candidate.

Matt Robinson

I am delighted that we have been able to appoint Matt Robinson as our new CEO. I have every confidence in Matt’s ability to build on LtL’s strong legacy and track record, and to continue the excellent work that LtL is known for. Matt brings great energy to this post, along with a deep and embedded knowledge of LtL and the wider sector. His professional partnership knowledge and experience is exemplary. Ultimately, it was Matt’s skills and experience, combined with his deep passion for our work and commitment to our success, that made him the ideal successor.
Juno Hollyhock, Chair of Trustees

Matt has a background as a secondary school teacher – he graduated from Liverpool John Moores University with a degree in Outdoor and Science Education. He has a varied career, mainly in education in classrooms across South Yorkshire, but also in adventure and residential provisions in the Peak District and then the Highlands. He has worked for LtL for 12 years, starting as a Training and Development Officer before becoming Scotland Director and Chief Operating Officer.

After 12 years working with Learning through Landscapes, I am honoured to take on the role of CEO. LtL is a stable and purposeful organisation, and my thanks go to Carley for her brilliant leadership and dedication through the challenges and successes of the last eight years. I am proud to lead our dedicated and skilled staff team who, as well as working tirelessly, create an incredibly supportive and collaborative culture. I am determined that school grounds and time outdoors must play a role in restoring childhood so that our children and young people are happier, healthier and more highly educated; better able to succeed in our modern world. I look forward to working alongside our existing and new partners, colleagues and trustees as we step into a challenging and exciting future.
