Landscapes for Learning – from Dragons Den

Landscapes for Learning (also Landscapes 4 Learning)

Back in 2018 Landscapes for Learning was successfully funded by Peter Jones on the TV series “Dragons Den”.

It was, as ever, good to see outdoor learning and play highlighted on national TV. It brought the importance of outdoors for children to the fore, and the ongoing number of online searches for the company shows the level of interest there is in such play equipment.

Learning through Landscapes and Landscapes for Learning

Although similar in title, our two organisations (Learning through Landscapes and Landscapes for Learning) are very different in history, experience and services provided.

Learning through Landscapes (LtL) has provided advice, training and school grounds design across the UK for 30 years. We are the organisation that ‘wrote the books’ on school and nursery grounds use. Supported by our patron Sir David Attenborough, we deliver to many hundreds of schools and nurseries each year through funded projects or direct sales to schools and early years settings.

Currently we offer a range of outdoor learning grants, free resources and outdoor play and learning training opportunities in outdoor learning and play.

Out focus is on changing mindsets and approaches to education – championing the outdoors as a place for formal learning and play. To this end we work at all levels – from classroom practitioner through headteacher and on to lobby our governments.

Landscapes for Learning is a start up business looking to direct sell play equipment to the schools market.

Welsh carpenter Craig Hill has secured the backing of Peter for his affordable range of outdoor learning equipment aimed at cash strapped primary schools, nurseries and day care centres. From mud kitchens and balance beams to sandpits and scales, Craig’s business ‘Landscapes For Learning’ offers an affordable alternative to the pricey catalogue based equipment, or cheap pallet-based items currently on the market.

As LtL we would always suggest that schools and early years settings focus on children’s experiences outdoors – not starting with a play item from a catalogue. We have a range of audit tools for you to use, available to members.

We can also help with advice and ideas – call us on 01962 392 932 or email enquiries@ltl.org.uk
