Join the LtL board as a Trustee, helping to shape the strategic direction of the UK’s leading school grounds, outdoor learning and play charity while bringing skills in technology, EDI, journalism/marketing, finance, policy or health research to our experienced board.
We are recruiting new Trustees to join education charity Learning through Landscapes, the UK’s leading school grounds, outdoor learning and play charity. For 35 years we’ve helped schools transform outdoor spaces and train teachers, towards our goal of every child benefitting from everyday access to nature, learning and play outdoors.
Why do we need new board members?
As we navigate through new opportunities and growth, we are looking for people who share our mission and can add skills in technology, EDI, journalism/marketing, finance, civil service/government policy work, or health research/policy. You will join an extremely experienced board, with a depth of experience in education, nature, landscape design, safeguarding, finance, research and organisational leadership.
What difference will you make?Â
Our trustees oversee good governance of LtL, they inspire and challenge our leaders and get involved in shaping our future direction. This role will ensure that many more children and young people get to learn and play in nature-rich, climate adapted environments.
Who are you?
You do not need previous experience; however, we are looking for people who can be a ‘critical friend’ to our management team and other board members. You will bring a passion for our work, insight and strategic thinking, and the ability to share your own lived experience.
What is the commitment?
Our board meets 4x/year (mostly online) for 2 hours, all expenses are paid, and training (initial and ongoing) will be provided in key areas of responsibility. You will also be joining an incredibly supportive and widely experienced existing group of board members. Board members are appointed for a term of 3 years.
How to show interest?
At this stage, we welcome expressions of interest. We will then share a detailed recruitment pack and arrange an initial conversation with the CEO. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to meet our Chair, followed by the submission of a full application for Board consideration and voting.
Please email scotland@ltl.org.uk or phone 01786465934 for an informal and confidential discussion.
